Agile Coach - Product & Delivery Transformation

Location: UK (Hybrid/Remote-first options available)
Clearance: SC clearance
Inside iR35

We are working with a consultancy delivering a major transformation programme for a government client. As part of a shift toward a modern product-led operating model, we are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support early adopter, multi-disciplinary product teams.

This role is hands-on and delivery focused, working directly with teams as they adopt agile and scaled agile ways of working, improve delivery maturity, and embed sustainable product practices.

The Role

You will work closely with product teams, delivery leads, and senior stakeholders to help teams establish effective agile ways of working and continuously improve their delivery capability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Kick-Off & Agile Foundations

    • Deliver training to multi-disciplinary teams on agile and scaled agile principles

    • Assess current agile maturity and tailor coaching to address team-specific challenges and impediments

  • Team Ceremonies & Ways of Working

    • Coach teams in adopting and improving agile ceremonies

    • Support teams to establish strong team agreements and working norms

  • Agile Best Practice Coaching

    • Provide hands-on coaching in prioritisation, capacity planning, backlog management, and flow

    • Support teams with definitions of ready and done

  • Work Breakdown & Story Writing

    • Coach teams on breaking down work into epics, features, and user stories

    • Support effective story slicing and managing work that spans multiple iterations

  • Tooling & Delivery Insight

    • Help teams use agile delivery tools effectively

    • Support reporting on delivery progress using appropriate metrics and visualisations

  • Quarterly Planning Support

    • Coach teams to prepare for quarterly planning

    • Co-facilitate quarterly planning events alongside delivery leadership

  • Capability Assessment & Continuous Improvement

    • Run end-of-quarter diagnostics with teams and key roles

    • Identify maturity improvements and agree next-step coaching plans

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as an Agile Coach working with product-focused teams

  • Experience supporting quarterly or multi-team planning

  • Practical experience applying OKRs or similar outcome-focused frameworks

  • Ability to coach, train, and influence teams with varying levels of agile maturity

Nice to Have

  • Experience working within government or highly regulated environments

  • Familiarity with recognised public-sector agile delivery standards and assessments
